Preschool Division
Burriss Building - First Floor
This division is designed for younger children ages birth through five (by September 1). The division staff determines the number of classes that are needed based on the number of preschoolers in each age grouping. The two-year curriculum cycle allows for a general grouping of (babies-ones, two-threes and fours-fives). Generally, a new class is formed when the enrollment reaches eight in the younger ages and twelve in the older ages. The teacher-pupil ratio is 1 - 3 in younger ages and 1 - 4 in the older ages.
Preschool age children learn primarily through hands-on involvement and play. They learn about God and other basic spiritual concepts as they interact with teachers and other preschoolers. We use the Family Bible Study curriculum which is designed by editors at Lifeway Christian Resources of the Southern Baptist Convention throughout this division. The eight foundational concepts the lessons are based on include: Bible, God, Jesus, Church, God’s Creation, Family, Others and Self. These eight concepts (building blocks) help to lay a foundation of spiritual understanding that these younger children will be able to build on as they grow and mature.
